New Year, happily
Apologies for the radio silence again this year. Things have been busy and difficult here and I’m trying to resolve them as fast as I can to allow me the time to keep doing the wootfly.tv chats.
I’ll keep you posted.

Happy Wootfly Christmas
Happy Christmas to everyone who’s found any interest in Wootfly.tv since it started a couple of long months ago. I hope you’ve enjoyed it. Apologies for being quiet of late - real life gets in the way from time to time. I will make it a resolution to do better next year.
All the season’s best to you and yours from me and mine.

Tim Schafer chat, Part 2
Tim is a fascinating guy. If anyone wants to argue that videogame creatives are in any ways less interesting or engaging as creatives in film, TV or music then watch this and drop me a line!

Tim Schafer. Part 1. Tim was everything I expected him to be. Only even more interesting. And a bit hairier. Oh, and very funny. I could have talked for hours. Part 2 is to come. Sorry its been slow. Wootfly is my favourite thing but its hard to devote the time.
PLEASE visit the wootfly facebook page and follow along on twitter. Remember, its only by getting to know the people who make the games...
Thoughts on a Busy Week
I’m certain that most of you regulars will be thankful that I haven’t done any of my early weekly roundup monologues recently. The reason is that I’ve just been too busy doing my day job (helping Developers promote their games) and annotating the videos I did while I was last in the US. I love doing wootfly chats and believe passionately about promoting the talent within the...

Ron Gilbert Part 1
I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to Ron while I was in the US. As I’m sure you know, Ron is famously the creator of the Monkey Island series as well as Maniac Mansion and, more recently DeathSpank. Ron and I met in a private museum of 70’s and 80’s videogame cabinets - which was amazing and, of course, completely appropriate. Ron and Tim Schafer and the...

Guillaume Provost, founder of Compulsion Studios in Montreal. Interesting guy. It takes a great deal of courage and self-belief to go it alone and start a business based on your passion. Credit to Guillaume for taking a big step. He’s incredibly experienced. I can’t wait to play the games he releases.

Hell of a trip!
I have been in North America for the past few weeks. The keen eyed amongst you may have noticed. I flew into Los Angeles and have been to San Diego, Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, and Las Vegas as well. This weekend I’m off to Palm Springs with my lovely (and patient) girlfriend to recover with a wet towel over my face. Its been exhausting but I have chatted to a whole load of...

Jenova Chen, Creative Director of That Game Company chats to wootfly.tv.
If you have ever doubted that videogames can be more than driving, shooting, fighting and sports then Jenova is a breath of fresh air. His inspirational attitude proves that games can aspire toward art. He’s an amazing guy.
This is a the first of a five part series. More to come this week.

Good chat with Robin Lacey, CEO of Beatnik Games, despite his cold, dodgy fourescent lighting and someone trying to hammer through the wall.

Alex Evans, co-founder and Technical Director of the fabulous Media Molecule - makers of the wonderful Little Big Planet, chats about his life in videogames.
Media Molecule Monday
What a fantastic start to the week. A great chat with an unexpectedly charming Alex Evans at Media Molecule follwed by a very stimulating lunch at Wagamamma in Guildford. A highly telented and creative guy but disarmingly pleasant with it. A rare combination. Really enjoyable start to what will hopefully be a great week. Video to follow…

Paul Wedgewood, Part 1. Paul chats about how he got his start in the videogames industry and although initially snubbed by Ian Livingstone on a plane, he got his own back.
Paul Wedgewood. Fascinating.
I had a great chat with Paul Wedgewood, the CEO and Game Director of Splash Damage yesterday. I’ve known Paul a while and I have a huge amount of admiration and respect for what he’s done in building the studio from a PC development base into a leading console developer. He’s a fascinating guy. I only wish I’d had more time with him - the whole team are working like crazy...
Going West
With a bit of luck I will be going out to LA next month on business. Unlike a lot of people, I really like LA. While I’m there I hope to chat over drinks with a bunch of interesting videogame creatives up the West Coast from San Diego to Vancouver and points between. I can’t wait. Mail me with any suggestions of people you’d like to see me share a drink with.

Control (and I don't mean with a joypad)
I had a call from Jamie Walker on Saturday morning. Jamie was co-founder (along with Sefton Hill) of Rocksteady Studios in North London. First week. Done.
Its a mighty strange feeling writing and recording video interviews and videoblog posts that no one is currently watching. Its all part of the plan and everything but its still strange. wootfly.tv finally ‘came out’ to my facebook friends this week and got its first followers. One at a time. Since this is a labour of love more to prove a point than with any commercial intent I am happy...

Patrick O’Luanaigh is is great guy. I’ve known him a long time and have pitched games, chatted over numerous drinks at trade shows and even shot clay pigeons with him. His approach to videogame development is interesting and unique.

wootfly.tv met up with Martyn Brown yesterday over a cheeky glass of single malt.
Martyn is the co-founder of Team17 - the Developers of the ever popular Worms games as well as Alien Breed (available on XBLA and PSN). I haven’t got very far with the Wootfly idea. But then its only Wednesday. I’m really keen to get out and start speaking to Developers. I lay in bed last night thinking of all the fascinating people in the industry that I’d love to talk candidly to and whether or not anyone apart from me would find the resulting clips in the least bit interesting.
I spoke to my good friend Shaun...

Wootfly Day 1
So this Blogging thing is new to me but I figured I’d have to give it a go. I have previously steered clear of blogging simply because I couldn’t bring myself to believe that anyone outside of my house or my office would be in the least bit interested in anything I have to say. However, last weekend while walking with my daughter around the farm where my parents live, I had an...
